What is a Shaker Slim?

Shaker Slim doors, also called a Skinny Shaker or Slim Shaker, are a type of shaker door that is narrower in width than traditional shaker doors. These doors are typically used in kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, where space is limited. Shaker Slim doors offer the same classic style as traditional Shaker doors, but with a more streamlined look.

Shaker Slim doors are made with high-quality woodworking construction, just like traditional shaker doors. The main difference is in the width of the door frame. Shaker Slim doors have a narrower frame, which gives them a sleeker appearance. These doors can be made with either full overlay or inset construction.

When choosing Shaker Slim doors for your kitchen or bathroom, you can rest assured knowing that you’re getting a high-quality product. These doors are built to last and will add a touch of elegance to any space.

The History & Evolution of the Shaker

The Shaker door is a style of cabinet door that has its origins in the Shaker religious sect. This group was known for their simple, utilitarian design aesthetic. The Shaker door reflects this aesthetic with its clean lines and lack of ornate details.

Shaker doors became popular in the early 1800s and have remained a popular choice for cabinets and furniture ever since. The shaker style has evolved over time, but the basic design remains the same.

Today, Shaker doors come in a variety of designs and are made from a number of materials. Plywood, MDF, or even glass may be used to produce shaker doors. If you want a classic shaker style, wood is of course the most traditional material. Veneer or Thermofoil wrapped MDF/HDF cores immediately liven up the classic Shaker. Add a Glass insert and you have quite an elegant upgrade. Thin out that frame and you have the Shaker Slim.
